Happy Birthday Danny!!

Happy Birthday to my baby brother...who isn't so little anymore!

D-Babes!!! A nice picture together...weird.
Much more typical.
...he actually makes himself bacon after school...on kind of a regular basis. It's weird. :)
He was an 8th grade boy when this was taken...so he was (is) sassy. I love him!

Dannnnnnnnners/D-Babes: I miss you everyday and I miss being there to hear about everything that happens in your life. In a family of personalities you are a shining star of comedic relief & sensitive understanding. I love you so much!! :) Congrats on being 15; please don't drive the Honda...ever.

Until Monday...cheer for the TWINS!

"He [Gardenhire] always says we will need everybody on the roster to win, and that's the way this team won.
We needed every last guy.''
- Joe Nathan

Friends!

The Twins won!! :) In game 163 of this crazy season we beat Detriot in TWELVE innings to earn ourselves the American League Central Division championship and the right to kick some Yankee butt in the coming days!!! I did get to watch it here, thanks to one supportive Detriot fan with Direct TV :) I loved watching every minute of it; the Dome looked amazing! According to the Star Tribune, last night was the biggest crowd (54,088) in regular season Dome history. Way to go Minnesota!! My parents were there thanks to last minute tickets from a friend, and they said it was a fabulous experience for MN baseball! JEALOUS! Now we play the Yankees starting at 6pm Eastern---get your Homer Hankies out!

Besides cheering on the Twins this week I have been busy with professional development days at school, the last one being today. Tonight I leave for a 5 day vacation to Bogota (capital of Colombia) and then Villa de Leyva (small colonial village about 4 hours from Bogota). I will be traveling with Maggie and friends, and I am looking forward to a break and also getting to see more of Colombia!

So until Monday afternoon you will not hear from me! Therefore, enjoy the weekend and get out to support the best team in baseball :) Let's face it... the Yankees are the worst. Don't believe me? Read the fifty reasons why right here. :)

Happy baseball watching and happy weekend!!

Weekend Recap

This is my third blog entry for today-I guess I had a lot to say! Here's the recap of my weekend...

Friday
  • BOOKED Thanksgiving Break in San Andres (an island in the Caribbean that is owned by Colombia) with Kelsi & Hana!! We still have to hear back from the travel agency about whether or not we can stay in our number one choice for a hotel, but if not we will gladly settle for number two.

  • Teacher Happy Hour (girls only) took place right at our tienda below our house; what a lovely way to relax after a long week!
  • Teacher Happy Hour turned into dinner with many of us at Crepes & Waffles...I had a chocolate chip waffle and chai tea for dinner. Clearly one of the best decisions I made all weekend. :)
Saturday
  • Graded 60 quizzes on solving linear equations...only 20 left to complete sometime today!
  • Watched the movie W in honor of you know who. I actually enjoyed the movie, and while I still need to look it up online to see which parts were factual, the movie gave me an interesting insight into his presidency and life.
  • Got together with some fellow teachers for drinks and dancing...which led to this ridiculous picture of Kelsi & I. :)
Sunday
  • I need to grade the rest of the quizzes...instead I am blogging and reading articles about the Twins online...and probably watching some more How I Met Your Mother online.
